Baseball

Here is another painting that I'm working on.  I've got a few other sports as well but Lou & Zoey playing baseball is next on the list to paint.  What do you think?

I'm going to be posting more sketches on here; I like the idea of seeing the whole project, from conceptualizing to sketching to painting.  Hopefully you enjoy it as well!

Basketball with Lou & Zoey - New Print!

Here's another print featuring Lou & Zoey; I'm also working on baseball,
soccer and tennis paintings in similar fashion. Hope you like it!

Jones Family Lineage - New Print!

I'm finding how fun it is to create my very own characters - they all have their own personalities and Zoey is no exception. She's skittish and a bit neurotic with a seemingly endless family tree. As one of the older mice she is expected to keep her younger brothers and sisters in line - you can imagine the stress that puts on this little mouse!

I'm really enjoying painting these cute little critters, even if they are a bit silly. I enjoy creating new ones (I'm working on 3 more) but haven't gotten to painting anything but Lou and Zoey.  It's refreshing to paint from the heart and I'm having a great time doing it.

Moving on Up

I am excited for all of the growth happening with my art; although it may be hard for you to tell with my meager 20-something pieces. The more I paint the closer my work becomes what I really love - it's like I'm growing into myself. It's forming a personality and a niche that I can't control and didn't expect but I love it. It's fascinating how this work it coming out of me and reflects all that I have swirling around in my mind, and it's actually telling a somewhat coherent story.

Anyways -when I first started my etsy shop my border was a vision of what I wanted my art to reflect, but I was never thrilled with it. The more I painted the less it did my work justice and it was time for a change.

I'm so happy with the new header!  I've really been loving the weatherman clouds that I painted recently so added them in and painted a new border that's reminiscent of those found on the Lou Pinkerton & Zoey Jones prints.  I love it, and I hope you do too!

Lou & Zoey

I'm thrilled to introduce you to Lou & Zoey.  After decades of animosity between families these two bonded over Jack London's Call of the Wild and have been inseparable ever since.  Zoey is a curious mouse who is meticulous and loves to socialize and meet new friends. She's addicted to peanut butter and banana sandwiches and often sleepwalks to the kitchen for late night snacks.  Lou is a cultured cat who loves libraries and enjoys travel and sophisticated conversation. He's memorized every single insect on 3 continents, his favorite being the Pyrops candelarius from Thailand. They are a great pair and have many more friends in the making.

Weatherman - New 8x10 Print

Where do I start with this newfangled space? I post about my many excursions and adventures on my personal blog but wanted to create a space just for my artistic endeavors. Ideally I will post through the process of my art-making, from terribly sketched ideas through to the final product where my prints are listed for sale at my little shop. Art is a process and I'd like to share my attempts at creating some!

I am lucky enough to have a boyfriend who has insanely good taste in music - anytime we are in the car I know I'll be taken care of and we listen to the sweet sounds of wonderful musicians like The Beatles, Fleet Foxes, Stevie Wonder and our dear friend Bob Dylan. There's this line in Bob Dylan's song Subterranean
Homesick Blues where he says, 'you don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows' and it's always stuck with me.  I don't know what it is, but I just love the way it sounds and how it flows together with such eloquence. It's such a sound statement that I can't help but love it.

It's available as an 8x10 print here and I hope to be posting the 5x7 version by tomorrow.
